I came off years of teaching mostly ethics convinced that ethics is interesting, also many faced, also important and relevant: the most important subject I could think of to teach, and also the hardest, in part because one has to constantly fight the temptation to restrict the field, to make it easier to talk about. Ethics seems to be in large part a meditation on the advice, "Be suspicious of short-cuts" (or, as Jesus says, enter by the narrow gate) and nowhere does this apply better than to teaching ethics. As I sort through my library, I keep coming upon things the open up forgotten aspects of the subject, and I am inclined to write about them. Hence this blog.
